Professional golfer Notah Begay III established this scholarship fund in 2018 to benefit Native American students who are attending or want to attend a private high school in the Greater Albuquerque Metropolitan Area. Awards may be used for solely for academic costs, i.e., tutition, books, uniforms, extra expenses.
One to three awards will be given annually.
Additional Criteria:
- Applicant must be Native American
- Applicant can be a current high school student or incoming freshman
- Applicant must be accepted or currently attending a private, Greater Albuquerque Metropolitan Area high school
- Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Applicant must have high academic achievement, involved in athletics and extra-curricular activities, i.e., art, music, drama
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need
Additional required attachments:
- Proof of tribal enrollment or Certificate of Indian Blood (minimum 25%)
- A personal essay demonstrating how you plan to give back to his or her community during high school. The student must include why this scholarship will be important to his or her success
- Two references from a teacher, mentor, or community member who has supported the student during his or her education
- Current Transcripts and Resume
