2010 Scholarship Programs Announced
08/02/201011 Programs Benefit New Mexico Students
Albuquerque-The Albuquerque Community Foundation has 11 separate scholarship and student aid programs to help New Mexico students attain their educational goals. Each scholarship program was established by a donor with individual interests and priority areas. They represent the broad diversity of the generous individuals who care about education and believe it is the best way to give back to future generations.
For this reason, requirements vary for each program.
Deadline of March 3, 2010
Woodcock Family Education Scholarship
Albuquerque area high school graduating seniors only; for students with strong math and/or science credentials; minimum cumulative GPA 3.8; two new scholarships for $11,000 each payable over four years of school
Notah Begay III Scholarship
Graduating New Mexico high school seniors; Native American scholar-athletes with any varsity level sports experience; minimum cumulative GPA 3.0; two awards up to $2,000 each
Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque Scholarship
Albuquerque & Rio Rancho high school graduating seniors only; awarded annually to students with strong community service experience; minimum cumulative GPA 3.0; up to four $1,000 awards
New Mexico Manufactured Housing Association Scholarship
Graduating New Mexico high school seniors; awarded annually to students living in mobile/manufactured homes; minimum cumulative GPA 3.0; one or more $1,000 awards
Barnes W. Rose, Jr. and Eva Rose Nickol Scholarship
Albuquerque High School (AHS) only; demonstrate financial need; minimum cumulative GPA 3.6; one $1,000 award; attend a college or university in pursuit of a degree in the field of Engineering
Youth in Foster Care Scholarship
Have been in the New Mexico foster care system for a at least one year at the time of their 18th birthday; graduating New Mexico high school seniors; minimum cumulative GPA 2.0 or GED or minimum cumulative GPA 2.0 in college; one or more awards up to $1,000 each
Robby Baker Memorial Scholarship
La Cueva High School seniors with dyslexia or other reading disabilities; minimum cumulative GPA 2.0; one award, up to $750
Bryan Cline Memorial Soccer Scholarship
Eldorado High School seniors playing varsity soccer; (one male and one female); two $1,200 awards annually
Deadline of April 23, 2010
Sussman-Miller Educational Assistance Award-for those who will attend out-of-state schools or in-state private schools
Deadline of June 30, 2010
Sussman-Miller Educational Assistance Award- for New Mexico state public schools
Financial assistance to fill the gap in student financial aid packages; graduating New Mexico high school seniors; minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 GPA; awards vary between $500 and $2,500
Deadline of July 1, 2010
Excel Staffing Companies Scholarship for Excellence in Continuing Education
Financial assistance for individuals who work a minimum of 30 hours a week in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia or Santa Fe Counties only; minimum cumulative GPA 3.0; up to four awards of up to $1,000 each
Deadline determined by individual schools
Manuel Lujan Excellence in Education Scholarship
One graduating high school senior chosen annually by each of 24 designated high schools; student must continue their education in New Mexico; minimum cumulative GPA 2.5 GPA; $600 per year for a total of four years of undergraduate work
