Focus on Domestic Violence
Donors: Rick Leonhardt and Family

Rick Leonhardt and his family used a grant from their out-of-state family foundation to establish a Restricted Endowment Fund within Albuquerque Community Foundation. The Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Programs Fund has contributed grants to nonprofit organizations including Albuquerque Rape Crisis Center, New Mexico AIDS Serviced, Inc., and Planned Parenthood of New Mexico.

Rick's personal volunteer work as a rape crisis advocate for Albuquerque Rape Crisis Center and his sister's efforts on behalf of domestic violence programs in her community led the family to identify the combined focus.

As Rick says, "Sexual assault and domestic violence often go hand-in-hand." By restricting distributions to a specific focus, the Leonhardt family is assured of the availability of grant support for programs addressing the issues of their concern.
