GIFTS TO ENDOWMENT FUNDS

Albuquerque Community Foundation is unique locally because it is the only nonprofit organization which raises endowment funds, the income from which benefits the entire community. Endowment gifts to ACF remain intact and only the income is spent for grants. In this way, the gifts keep on giving indefinitely. Over time the grants exceed the capital gift.

A donor may make a gift of any amount to an existing endowment fund or general field of interest fund or may start their own named endowment fund within specific guidelines. A donor may also start a fund with an agreed-upon pledge plan.

Unrestricted Endowment Fund

All endowment contributions made to ACF without restrictions are added to the General Charitable Endowment Fund. Unrestricted funds are the most flexible resource for the Foundation Grant Program. Unrestricted gifts can be made by at anytime.

Field of Interest Endowment Fund

A Field of Interest Fund allows the donor to support a broad area such as education, health, social services, cultural affairs, children and youth, historic preservation, and environmental conservation. Rather than lock a fund into a narrow issue, a broad field of interest allows ACF to respond to the community's emerging and changing needs, today and in the future. Donor-Advised Endowment Fund

Annual distributions are made from each Donor-Advised Fund based on advice from the donor, the final decision resting with the Board of Trustees. This type of fund allows the donor to retain the right to suggest specific projects in any field of interest while avoiding administrative complexities of a private foundation.

Student Aid Fund

Student Aid Funds may be established with the donor choosing the category of students, criteria for selection, and school(s) students may attend while receiving the scholarship. The minimum contribution amount will vary based on the complexity of the scholarship program. Student aid examples.

General Administrative Endowment Fund

Annual distributions are made from the Administrative Endowment Fund directly to ACF's operating fund.

Grow-A-Fund

Grow-A-Fund was designed for those who prefer the flexibility of building their endowment fund over the course of a few years. When the fund reaches a pre-determined value, it converts into a grantmaking fund within the Foundation.

Philanthropy Central

The ACF Endowment Partnership Program, Philanthropy Central, to benefit a specific nonprofit organization can be established by an individual donor or a nonprofit organization. Income from each fund is distributed back to the organization or added to its fund balance on a yearly basis providing long-term support. Should a designated beneficiary become dysfunctional, ACF will redirect the fund to carry out the original intent. Aligning an endowment with ACF's staying power is tangible reassurance to donors that their gifts will receive wise stewardship.
