Step 1: Do I qualify for a grant?


Eligibility

Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and public agencies that serve the greater Albuquerque area.

Foundation grants are NOT made:

  • to individuals
  • for political or religious purposes
  • to retire indebtedness
  • for the payment of interest or taxes
  • annual campaigns, capital campaigns or fundraising events
  • travel for individuals or groups
  • for conferences, workshops, symposia; including speaker fees, room and board, related travel
  • endowments
  • medical, scientific or academic research
  • emergency funding
  • to influence legislation or elections
  • to private foundations and other grant-making organizations

Grantmaking Fields-of-Interest:

Arts and Culture grants support programs that increase opportunities to participate in, and/or learn about, the arts of diverse cultures with a priority on the low-income and/or at-risk children and youth populations

Education grants support programs for early childhood and adult learning experiences including literacy, parental involvement programs and vocational/career training

Environmental and Historic Preservation grants support the preservation of historic resources, conservation of natural land and wildlife and education programs with an  emphasis on K-12 education programs and/or projects with strong community involvement

Health grants support access to quality health care (including mental health) for uninsured, underinsured and medically underserved adults and children

Human Services grants support programs assisting vulnerable populations including at-risk children/youth; aid for people in transition or who are homeless to become self-sufficient; and nurture families

Within our fields-of-interest, the Foundation makes grants from funds that address specific issues such as programs including arts education in public schools, performing arts, mediation, domestic violence, direct services for the elderly and programs that encourage discussion and the study of ideas.

Grantee Procedures and Reporting

All grant recipients must report on the expenditure of grant funds and the results of the supported project. Any funds not expended for the specific purpose of the grant must be returned to the Foundation and cannot be diverted to other uses without the express approval of the Foundation.
