The New Mexico Jazz Workshop focuses on bringing music education and performance into the community. The Albuquerque Community Foundation awarded the New Mexico Jazz Workshop with a $9,000 grant. They in turn used some of this money towards the “South Valley Band Project” this past summer, with 110 students in attendance!
The kids who attended this summer program learned music theory, rhythm, melody structures and instrumental techniques. The number of students who attended this summer program nearly doubled since the previous year.
