Children can spend 2 - 2½ years waiting for adoption.
A grant to ARCA provided funding to recruit and qualify foster families for 40 vulnerable newborns and children with developmental disabilities and/or complex, life-threatening health conditions. Children may have shaken baby syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome or have factures due to physical abuse or developmental delays caused by suffocations. Qualified foster families provide expert assistance to improve the physical and emotional health of these high-needs children, thereby speeding placement with a permanent, nurturing family.
