Helping Nonprofits Helping People in Haiti

01/15/2010

Foundation donors who want to help the people of Haiti may make gifts from their advised funds to agencies responding to the disaster.

One of the greatest humanitarian disasters in recent memory is occurring in Haiti. The country was devastated by an earthquake and much of its infrastructure that provides basic human needs, including food and water, is unable to function. Early estimates indicate up to one-third of Haiti’s 9 million residents have been impacted in some way. Reports indicate that as many as 100,000 people have died. Thousands have been injured and many are living on the streets.
