$3.1 Million Awarded

Albuquerque Community Foundation announces $3.1 million in grants from its permanent endowment funds through 264 grants to nonprofit organizations and financial aid for more than 71 students. Grants support the work of agencies with programs in the areas of arts and culture, children and youth at-risk, education, environmental and historic preservation, health and human services.

“We are pleased we could increase our level of grant awards by over $850,000 even in difficult economic times. This makes us even more aware of the power of endowed funds”, said Randy Royster, Executive Director. “Our spending policy provides for grant distributions in good investment market years and in years that are not so good.” In addition to its competitive grant awards (attached), the Foundation joined a state-wide collaboration between the public and private sectors, “the New Mexico Plan to End Hunger” designed to move New Mexico from #1 to #5 in food insecurity in the US. The Foundation’s 2008 Annual Awards & Donor Appreciation Luncheon is Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Hotel Albuquerque. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased through the Foundation, 883-6240.

For 27 years, the Albuquerque Community Foundation has built successful partnerships with donors, nonprofits and community leaders to enhance the quality of life for people in the greater Albuquerque area.
